EVF Mount with NATO Clamp # 1594`

Posted by Don Gordon on 10th Mar 2020

I was needing a small EVF/4.5" monitor bracket that could be adapted to my BMMCC 1080P camera which is protected by a Small Rig cage, designed for this camera. The size of the bracket was just right - but required some machining to remove the jut-out design on the distal end to provide a more professional look to my setup. The NATO clamp fits perfectly with the SmallRig BMMCC's cage (left-side), without any additional adapter pieces.

Its design is really innovative and amazing!

It includes a NATO clamp and a L-shape mounting bracket with 1/4" screw. It could be mounted on the NATO rail on the one end, and it could be mounted on EVF or monitor on the other end. It features quick release and attachment on NATO rail via a wingnut. L-shape mounting bracket could be adjusted 360 degree. Its design is really innovative and amazing! Bravo!

    SmallRig EVF Mount 1594

I’m very pleased with the EVF 1594. It's very sturdy, all the ports are accessible on my Feelworld FH7 and it rotates like a charm.
The mounting and dismounting of the field monitor is so quick and easy; I leave the whole mount with the clamp on the monitor to put it in my bag.
It’s a far better solution then the flimsy ballhead that comes with the monitor, which takes forever to mount and comes lose with the slightest touch. When you loosen the fixing screw on the ballhead, the monitor goes all over the place.
The rotation in one direction only of the EVF mount 1594 is far more easy to use. Loosen the handle, rotate the monitor as you please for a low or a high level shot, fasten the handle and done! It stays!

Not what I was hoping for, but fine

This wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but it still works okay. Biggest complaints:

1.) The display platform should be able to be mounted both ways. It comes in a "raised" configuration where the display is raised above the rotating joint. I'd also like if it could be "recessed" so that the display could be dropped below the rotating joint. This just means that the two holes that secure the monitor platform would be reversible. Unfortunately, they are not.

2.) The rotating joint is not smooth. It is just a metal on metal joint. I assumed it would have a higher quality spinning joint that felt smooth.

Overall, it works okay, but I really wish it could be configured in a "dropped" position.

This is a very simple but very functional product. It does what it's designed to do and does it well. The screw to adjust it's position on the NATO rail and to adjust the swivel of the arm are easy to loosen and tighten even in tight spaces because they can be pulled out and adjusted, like a ratchet. It grips the NATO rail tightly with no slipping and feels very secure. The rubber on the area where the EVF is mounted also allows for a more secure grip. This can be used in a number of positions and configurations which makes it even more versatile, would highly recommend it!
