I just want to appreciate the product availability and as well as the functionality of this L-Bracket, sometimes i adjust the handle on the side to easy balance the camera whenever I'm using my Heavy Lenses.
This L-Bracket saved my Z6 from being returned! I have big hands and the camera body just did not work for me (I'm coming from a Nikon D3S). It felt too small - almost like a toy... but adding the bracket made it both taller and wider and allows all my fingers to be on the grip/extended grip. It made the front & rear wheels way more accessible and easier to turn because of the new lowered hand position. And as an added bonus, it even allows me to hold the camera with just my left hand on the bracket! It's built like a tank, looks very professional, and integrates perfectly with the z6 body - as all side doors and battery chamber remain completely accessible. Really happy that I purchased it and I highly recommend it.
I recently bought this L-bracket for my Z7 and it has caused me to "retire" my otherwise good Kirk L-bracket (which cost substantially more than this one!).
Here are the ways this SmallRig L-bracket is superior to the competitors:
a) Its side piece can be easily/quickly adjusted outward from the camera's side, making it much better for cable handling when doing video work with both audio and HDMI cables having to be routed past or through the L-bracket's side;
b) The Arca-type dovetails, on both bottom and sides, fit my Really Right Stuff clamps much better than the otherwise good Kirk L-bracket;
c) This bracket's bottom design gives a nice, flat "floor" for the entire width of the camera while also extending its overall height creating a bit more welcome room for the right pinky finger;
d) Strategic placement of 1/4-20 screws on the side piece provide useful options;
e) Available "handle" to cover the side piece has its own cold shoe, so I can use it for a shotgun mic mount even while I have a decent new grip for my left hand when using the rig hand-held;
f) Though I purchased this principally for video work, I have already found that this is a much better L-bracket for stills usage than my previous L-bracket, though the optional "handle" must be removed when the principal work is stills rather than video.
In short, this bracket is so good that I recommend it over any competitor's L-bracket. I certainly would have purchased this rather than a competing bracket had this been available when I bought the Kirk. And I say this despite the fact that the Kirk L-bracket is an excellent product.
Just perfect and a must have accessory. Don’t leave the house without it.
This is an incredible bit of well thought out engineering. Light weight, fits perfectly, has an accessible allen wrench (secured by magnet) and the best part of all, the side bracket slides out (at the turn of a screw) to give better access to the left side ports and provide clearance for the 10-pin cable when using the camera in portrait orientation on a tripod. And all this for less than $70. Thank you, SmallRig!
Honestly? You need this. If you have a Z6 or Z7, you just need this. It's the most well thought out grip/plate/L-bracket product out there. And if you don't need the L-arm, just remove it and you still have an extended grip with a built in swiss-arca plate. The aluminum design and finish is top notch. If this doesn't work for you, you're doing it wrong. :)
Ordered an L bracket for my Z7 camera. It fits perfectly to the camera body and provides a much better grip. Very solid and smooth surface. Also like the ability to remove the end plate when not needed. Very satisfied!
Really well built, great fit, lightweight and fits perfectly into an acra-swiss receiver. It can be bit tough to get at the battery and left side ports with big fingers, but not unreasonably so. Highly recommended.
Very good Stuff !!
