SmallRig L-Bracket for Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 Camera APL2258 is a modular design with anti-twist flanges to keep the camera from twisting. The bottom plate adds a 16.5mm height based on the original handgrip for pinky support. Both the base plate and side plate are Arca-type compatible dovetail plates that enable the camera to mount in a vertical or horizontal position. It features a sensor centering line on each axis to align the camera on a tripod head and maintains complete access to the camera's battery and ports. The side plate can be extended to left if more room is needed for tethering or cable release. An included hex wrench on the bottom is used to tighten and adjust the L-bracket. Additionally, it is compatible with the Peak Design strap and includes a hand strap loop on the right side. Furthermore, 1/4"-20 mounting holes are located on the side and bottom for accessory attachment, such as Cold Shoe Mount 1593. The front of the baseplate comes with two M4 screws for FTZ Adapter Mount 2244 to protect the lens port.

I am a professional photographer and I just sold my D3S's and made the bold leap to the Z platform all because of this L-Bracket!!!! Seriously! I have big hands and found the Nikon Z body way too small for my hands to comfortably work with it. There was no way I was going to switch over to the Z lineup until a pro-version came out with a larger body with an integrated battery grip. I even tried the Z6 with the MB-N10 battery grip to no avail because my fingers just didn't fall in the right place, and it was super uncomfortable - in addition to being UGLY and cheap looking!
The SmallRig grip is PERFECT and makes the camera extremely comfortable to handle. Its rounded edges are easy on the hands and the height of the base allows me to hold the camera with all my fingers on the grip and extended base because its integrated so seamlessly. And, if I want to hold the body with 2 hands, I can comfortably grab the L-bracket portion with my left hand fingers and thumb as well because there's enough meat there to grab.
The bracket makes the camera look & feel very professional because of its increased size (width & height) and amazing build quality. And it still fits nicely in my Think Tank StreetWalker V2.0 backpack, works great with my Spider Lite Belt, and easily fits on my Zhiyun Weebill-S gimble.
All in all, I just can't say enough about good things about this L-Bracket! It made me LOVE the way my new Z6 feels in my hands and has been a total game changer for me.
I bought the L-bracket for video work. With the side bracket extended (and with the optional side handle), I had much more stability in my handheld video.
My Z6 is already showing signs of wear after a hard year. I'm leaving the L-bracket (with just the side bracket, not the handle) to protect the camera body a bit better. It all still fits in my camera bag nicely.
I am thrilled with this product. The fit and finish are amazing. Best L bracket I've ever owned.
So happy i got this. Not only is it an L-rig that is arca-swiss compatible, the grip on the Z6 is improved by the extra height. Perfect when using large and heavy lenses on the Z6. I remove the side plate when i just need it as a grip extension.
I just want to appreciate the product availability and as well as the functionality of this L-Bracket, sometimes i adjust the handle on the side to easy balance the camera whenever I'm using my Heavy Lenses.
This L-Bracket saved my Z6 from being returned! I have big hands and the camera body just did not work for me (I'm coming from a Nikon D3S). It felt too small - almost like a toy... but adding the bracket made it both taller and wider and allows all my fingers to be on the grip/extended grip. It made the front & rear wheels way more accessible and easier to turn because of the new lowered hand position. And as an added bonus, it even allows me to hold the camera with just my left hand on the bracket! It's built like a tank, looks very professional, and integrates perfectly with the z6 body - as all side doors and battery chamber remain completely accessible. Really happy that I purchased it and I highly recommend it.
I recently bought this L-bracket for my Z7 and it has caused me to "retire" my otherwise good Kirk L-bracket (which cost substantially more than this one!).
Here are the ways this SmallRig L-bracket is superior to the competitors:
a) Its side piece can be easily/quickly adjusted outward from the camera's side, making it much better for cable handling when doing video work with both audio and HDMI cables having to be routed past or through the L-bracket's side;
b) The Arca-type dovetails, on both bottom and sides, fit my Really Right Stuff clamps much better than the otherwise good Kirk L-bracket;
c) This bracket's bottom design gives a nice, flat "floor" for the entire width of the camera while also extending its overall height creating a bit more welcome room for the right pinky finger;
d) Strategic placement of 1/4-20 screws on the side piece provide useful options;
e) Available "handle" to cover the side piece has its own cold shoe, so I can use it for a shotgun mic mount even while I have a decent new grip for my left hand when using the rig hand-held;
f) Though I purchased this principally for video work, I have already found that this is a much better L-bracket for stills usage than my previous L-bracket, though the optional "handle" must be removed when the principal work is stills rather than video.
In short, this bracket is so good that I recommend it over any competitor's L-bracket. I certainly would have purchased this rather than a competing bracket had this been available when I bought the Kirk. And I say this despite the fact that the Kirk L-bracket is an excellent product.
Just perfect and a must have accessory. Don’t leave the house without it.
This is an incredible bit of well thought out engineering. Light weight, fits perfectly, has an accessible allen wrench (secured by magnet) and the best part of all, the side bracket slides out (at the turn of a screw) to give better access to the left side ports and provide clearance for the 10-pin cable when using the camera in portrait orientation on a tripod. And all this for less than $70. Thank you, SmallRig!
