Curiosity and observation guide Antonio Tibaldi as he documents the world in motion.

Antonio Tibaldi is a filmmaker born in Sydney, raised in Europe, and now based in New York. His work moves across borders, both geographically and socially, focusing on stories that exist outside mainstream attention. From Sundance to Berlin, Rotterdam to Tribeca, his films have consistently gained international recognition. His early breakthrough, On My Own, premiered at Sundance in 1993, earning six AACTA Awards nominations and a Canadian Genie Award nomination. Over the past three decades, Tibald has continued to document lives shaped by conflict, displacement, and social transformation. His films, including We Are Living Things, Pro-trusion, and Kiss of Fire, reflect a long-term commitment to entering complex environments and staying with them. After 9/11, he turned his lens toward regions often overlooked by global media, working across Africa, South America, and Asia. As a consultant for United Nations Television, he has also contributed to documenting global crises and social realities. For Tibald, filmmaking is not observation from a distance, but a way of entering other people’s worlds, where stories unfold with emotional and political weight.
