A Complete Tracking Solution

The POV Kit is a complete tracking shot solution that’s simple and convenient to use. It ensures your subject stays perfectly centered in every shot creating unique, breathtaking visuals.

The flexible multi-angle adjustments of the seven 360° rotatable hinges, combined with the rugged ARRI rosette and quick adjusting ball head of the Magic Arm, make overhead and low-angle shooting easy, precise, and stable. One end of the Magic Arm features a built-in 1/4”-20 screw with retractable locating pins, and the other end has a NATO Clamp allowing a quick, tool-free setup. You can quickly and precisely adjust positioning and height with a single locking lever. The secure tightening system ensures your product and shots are always locked in place, so you get the same shot every single take!

The lightweight (917g/32oz), rugged aluminum NATO Rail has a telescoping extension range of 49.6-70.0cm/19.5-27.55in, and the arms can be freely adjusted to achieve any desired shooting position. For maximum flexibility, there are multiple attachment locations - 1/4”-20 threaded holes, 3/8”-16 ARRI Locating holes, and 1/4”-20 threaded hole with locating holes - so you can quickly find and record the shooting distance of different lenses, saving precious re-adjustment time. And the calibration scale provides repeatability and convenience if you need to go back and recreate a scene at a later date. With a load capacity of 6kg/13.2lb and the ability to fold down to only 37.0cm/14.57in, you can always carry it with you.

You can use the NATO Clamp to rig virtually any product onto the system. And once you’ve captured the POV, you can remove the rig from the scene during post-production, producing seamless POV shots.

How did the Tracking POV Kit come about?

If you’re a creative filmmaker like Mikevisuals, you strive to create never-before-seen shots and angles. Mike often uses follow-up tracking shots during commercials for more engaging product usage experiences and enhanced product details. Nothing on the market satisfied Mike’s requirements, so he created his own POV rig using an assortment of accessories. However, it was unstable and would loosen during active shooting, making it inconvenient and unsafe for his gear.

On April 10, 2023, Mike contacted the SmallRig DreamRig Project Team and explained his situation. Once the DreamRig team reviewed his sketches and confirmed the requirements, they immediately started designing the prototype. After Mike confirmed the 3D model, it was optimized, CNC processed, produced, and sent to Mike for testing and feedback.

The prototype solved the problem of allowing the bracket to be flexibly adjusted using lenses with different focal lengths, but the step-less adjustment arm hinge was not strong enough for gear over 2kg. For safety and stability, the hinge design was changed to ARRI rosette. This component was much stronger and still met the requirements of 360-degree rotation adjustment. The designers continued to refine the rig, adjusting the hinge design and control functions, and after many prototype tests, completed a new, innovative structural design. After getting Mike’s approval – the product perfectly satisfied his needs and exceeded his expectations –production started and the product will be released on December 1, 2023! Less than eight months after Mike first made contact with SmallRig!
