"The Force that Digs Through the Desert"-SmallRig Awards Submission Film Showcase
SmallRig Awards 2024-12-19 23:40:39

Film introduction:

The documentary chroniclers @Qi Yun Lian Meng Band ventured into the Alxa Desert, guided by environmental activists, and delved into the heart of the wilderness to listen to their efforts in mitigating drifting sands. They rolled up their sleeves to plant trees and water them, joining the Sand-fixing Program to contribute to environmental protection.

At the SEE Foundation's "100 Million Haloxylon Ammodendron Trees" Project Base in Alxa, "Qi Yun Lian Meng" witnessed the hardships and perseverance of frontline environmental activists. Over 12,000 mu (a traditional Chinese unit of area, approximately equal to 80 hectares) of straw checkerboards and more than 80 million Haloxylon Ammodendron trees have been planted by these activists, who have created a vibrant green "ocean" in the desert with their sweat and determination.

The core theme of the film lies in showcasing the possibility of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and emphasizing that amidst the barren desert, there exists not only the struggle against despair but also the glimmer of hope. Through vivid imagery and heartwarming stories, it encourages more people to start paying attention to the crucial issue of desertification mitigation.
