I really like this plate and the weights that I purchased with it. The plate is very well made and I like it much more than the stock plate that comes with the EOS R. It’s gives the camera a wider base to sit on when not using the gimbal. I knew that it was still likely not going to work without hitting the eyepiece when is use with the Eos R and the 24-105. Since there were no reviews showing whether or not it worked with the new RF 15-35 I needed to test it for myself. Well I can tell you that it most certainly does not work without hitting the eyecup. You can get the Ronin SC to work and use it with the camera in the upright normal position, but you will not be able to transition to “flashlight” mode. Definitely don’t hesitate to buy Smallrig products, they are great. But if you have the EOS R and use heavier lenses or L lenses you will have to get something else like the Ronin S.
The mounting plate is superb well machined & I think it is better than the actual DJI Ronin SC plate - I made a short video on Youtube https://youtu.be/6ed4xPIe4FM & I am sure it will help with other large lens set ups but not with the Canon EOSR RF 24 to 105 this is down to the EOSR eye piece still touching at the back. I am goign to test it with other cameras and lens so will update my channel with these once they are tested so will keep you updated!
