    Superb Fit and Finsh

I mainly bought this for the additional grip when using larger, adapted lenses with the diminutive M6 Mark II body. (The side L-plate can be completely detached for this purpose if desired.) The L-bracket is lighter than I expected, and it is extremely well built and finished. Highly recommended for the increased handling on and off the tripod. A couple of minor usage notes: 1) I noticed a tiny bit of flex in the wooden grip on my sample when attached to the camera body. I added a very small strip of soft adhesive Velcro to the interior surface of the grip and it completely resolved this. 2) Lens mount adapters and Speedboosters can be used, but the tripod foot (if any) must be removed first, since it will not clear the front edge of the Arca-Swiss clamp built into the bracket base. Not a real issue in practice, since with the bracket fitted there are no longer any tripod clearance issues, and longer, heavier lenses will have their own tripod collars. Just something to note.

    Exactly what I needed

I mainly got this for the additional grip. It makes it so much more comfortable to hold. I use the Spiderlight Strap, and it works perfectly with this bracket. The bottom attachment fits between the bracket and the camera, and comes out the opening for the battery. No problem changing the battery with it setup this way.

Makes a great little camera even better

New M6 Mark II punches way above its size when it comes to the overall quality of the pictures it can produce and its abilities as an action camera. It is a great multipurpose camera which can be used as a light travel and everyday camera with its native mount lenses. The problem is there are no EFM mount quality tele lenses that can actually benefit from camera's abilities as a potential action camera and you need to use big adapted EF mount lenses for that. It is still usable without an additional grip but a bit awkward to handle for me. This L bracket/grip makes it much more comfortable to handle with long tele and adapted lenses. It is of course also useful as an L bracket for portrait orientation on tripods but for me the main benefit is the better handling of the camera when using it with large adapted lenses.

    Great addition for tripod use

Posted by Gene on 15th Jan 2020

I used to have arca-swiss compatible plates foe all my cameras (my main rigs are Canon EOS5 Mk IV, one with battery grip, one without). I got M6-II as a small add-on for circumstances when I do not want to carry heavy load. This braket appeard to be the only one available -- and I'm happy I got one. How I can quickly mount it to my Gitzo both horizontally and vertically, and it also adds some structural protection. My only complain -- it does not have a hole for the camera strip on the lower left side, where I usually keep the third attachment point for my neck strip. But I threaded the attachment through the whole, and it worked just fine. Overall -- if you have M6-II and use it with a monopod or tripod -- get this one right away!

L-Bracket for Canon EOS M6 Mark II

I've bought several products from SmallRig recently and they have all been excellent. This L-Bracket is beautifully machined and fits my M6 Mark II like a glove. In addition to it's obvious utility for tripod work the wooden grip makes the camera much easier to handle in my large hands. A superb product at a great price and highly recommended.
