    Decent, but with drawbacks

As always the build quality from SR is great, the fitment is perfect and it feels like a high quality piece. There are however a few things I'd have done differently and one big problem that I find annoying every time I use this plate. First, I think that for me, having 2 cold shoes so close together doesn't really help, especially the one on the bottom which when the camera is mounted on a tripod or gimbal is useless. Instead, I'd love to see a version of this with a super thin bottom plate that just wraps around the corner and has a single side mount cold shoe. Most importantly though, when using a mic on the side mount, the cold shoe is so close to the mic input port door that I have to slide my mic half way out the front of the mount in order to be able to screw it on because with the small overlap of the screw-on mic it hits the port door. And with the EOS M6, that door doesn't flip loosely out of the way, so this will always be an issue. If however the lower cold shoe was eliminated, they could have dropped the side shoe down further and avoided this problem.

    Perfect Solution

This is a high quality product made of steel and is perfect for vlogging. I also purchased the relocation plate so that I can have my light and mic on board. Both were easy to install. Also what’s more impressive is that I received my products from SmallRig weeks before my friends who are still awaiting for their from B&H. Great customer service as well!

Great solution to an annoying problem!

When I upgraded to the Canon M6 MKII, I was continually frustrated having to remove my camera from my tripod to remove the SD Card. If I wanted to remove the battery, I had to remove the camera from the tripod AND remove the tripod plate to remove the battery. With this cold shoe plate, problem solved! I really like the different mounting holes for the tripod mount and also the dual cold shoes. Now I finally have a place to attach my RODE Wireless Go instead of clipping it onto the rubber door for the mic input.
