“In Lost Land”—SmallRig Awards Submission Film Showcase Vol.02
SmallRig Awards 2024-10-24 02:34:37

The film contains a lot of natural elements, rivers, ice, fog, fire, mountains and caves, ancient blessings, and healing people's hearts. In the director's narrative, nature plays an indispensable role. The characters immerse themselves in the environment and unfold their own stories. The film uses a lot of long shots to create a poetic atmosphere and shape a symbolic freehand space. "Sheep" plays the role of nature's "messenger" in the film, carrying beautiful memories, and also incarnated as an element in the woman's poetry to heal her inner trauma. I think the so-called relatives are the people who carry all our pasts. When the boy enters the sheep's memory and connects with the woman's past, family affection is born between two strange days.
The name of the film "Missing without Soil" comes from the director's poetry, which can be understood as “In Lost Land”. Missing does not need soil, floating lightly in the air, ethereal and natural, just like the "love" in the film, it can reach anywhere and heal us.

Film introduction:

In order to keep a moment of warmth, the little boy who was lost in the winter snow weaved a story that he didn't know whether it was true or false. This story became his inner hope.
