Dear Support Team, I am required to record events for a client with a duration of 50–60 minutes in 4K30. I am using a Canon EOS R6 which, in its standard configuration (LP-E6 battery, 280 MB/s SD card), records a maximum of 27 minutes. Since the battery became very hot during recording, I added a SmallRig VB99 (5048) and connected it via USB-C. Unfortunately, this did not extend the recording time. I hoped for improvement by using the SmallRig cooling fan 4815. However, the recording time only increased by approximately 7 minutes, reaching 34 minutes in total. The temperature indicated on the fan display never exceeded 24°C. Because the camera battery still became quite hot when powering the camera via USB-C from the VB99, I also purchased the D-Tap dummy adapter 4252. With this setup, I can now achieve a total of 44 minutes, including a cooling break of about one minute. After extensive testing and considerable investment, this is a very disappointing result. I have repeated all tests multiple times and used only original Canon and SmallRig equipment. The camera and all accessories were operated strictly according to the instructions. Is there anything else I can do to further improve the recording time? Or could a malfunction in the camera or the cooling fan be responsible for the very limited runtime? VB99 battery with capacity of 6800mAh, which don't support your EOS R6 to record for 50-60 minutes. Please change another battery with larger capacity. It is recommended to use VB212 battery (product ID 4293), whose capacity is 15000mAh, which allow you to record for 60 minutes in 4k30 with EOS R6.
