Using this for documentary work on a shoulder rig with the Sony A7Sii and their heavy 28-135mm f/4 zoom. Because this accessory can drop on and off the rods without removing front-mounted accessories, it saves a lot of time when swapping lenses on my rig. Build quality is very good. It has two slots for a (user-supplied) strap to go around the lens to secure it even further, i.e., when shooting from a moving vehicle. Plus it doesn't have a lot of unnecessary metal adding unwanted grams. to my rig. Great product!
It's built well, it's easy to get this onto a rail system and off, it works well if you're on any other rail+cage system that isn't the Advanced Half Cage, the cage puts the rails too low and the post isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the lenses I use. I don't have cine lense I'm using a 70-200 F4 L and a 17-40 L on a GH5s and it doesn't quite reach the bottom of the lens barrel. I'm if I was using a fatter cine lens it will most likely reach. If the post was a little longer I think there could be more versatility with this support no matter what rail system you might have. I can make it work at the tip of the lens but I was hoping for it to support the lens in the middle part in case I wanted to use a mattebox.
I didn't see an alternative longer lens post to swap out that I could buy from SmallRig so if you all happen to read this send me an email when you make one :)
