Ordered as my current system of RAM mounts had some play under the weight of my Inferno recorder and this new arm is solid as a rock.
The Smallrig cage already on my FS5 gives plenty of solid mounting options, and the same on the Smallrig cage for my Inferno.
The extra large handle on the new arm makes it easy to do up extra tight, and the rubber balls also have an extra thick rubber band round the center meaning they remain extra solid even under a lot of weight and full extension. Weight wise it is no heavier than the plastic RAM mounts I previously used, and all for a great price. Cant recommend enough.
This is a short 'first impressions' review because I have only used this mount once and I need to use it a bit more before being able to confidently review it. From one use, though, I am pleased with it.
This is by far the best monitor/recorder connecting arm I've used. It is short enough not to put to much excess on to the camera yet sturdy enough to have confidence a 7Q+ with rig won't budge. Simple single tension screw makes adjustment a breeze. Tried it, liked it and purchased another.
I¡¯ve used many magic arms, including ones costing ?X00s from Noga. They almost always slip and sag. The magic arm 2070 is one of the best, rock solid mount for heavy monitors without slippage. Am really starting to love the quality and decent pricing of Smallrig equipment.
I have 3 of these little clamps and they are fantastic.
I use one to fix my small hd monitor too a c300 mk2 and another to a Ronin, but the main use I have found is that it solves the infuriating droopy led-monitor/viewfinder issue on the mk 2,by simply attaching between thread(on monitor unit) and camera handle problem solved after nearly 3 years of it being a proper pain.
Thank you guys for such a great product keep em coming.
This is a really sturdy and secure arm. Great quality. I use it for my monitor.
I need this magic arm to mount the monitor to the cage. It could be adjusted in different positions and angels by loosening and tightening the wingnut. It never make any scratches on my monitor because of the rubber cushions. Fantastic!
usual high build quality and well thought out design from SmallRig. Can easily handle larger monitors like Shogun, BM 4K etc. Integral screw design means you don't have the physically twist the kit you're mounting - instead you just hold in place and tighten.
The large surface area of the central thumb tensioner provides good, even pressure to the locking mechanism. A nice alternative to traditional articulating arm.
