It comes with multiple 1/4’’-20 and 3/8’’-16 threaded holes allowing mount of accessories. My Most Versatile EOS R Accessory

Posted by George Suresh on 28th Aug 2019

Ever since I caged my Canon EOS R with this product - I have never taken it off.

To take full advantage of the EOS R’s video capabilities, this was my first and most important acquisition in transforming the camera into a multi-functional media tool. The cage adds slightly more bulk to the EOS R, however the fact that there are so many options to customise the unit makes it easily the most versatile accessory on my camera. I now have the choice of stabilizing my video by adding one or more side handles, a top handle, a video monitor and light as well as a microphone if needed.

I also attach a Manfrotto style plate which allows me to easily switch it from handheld, to monopod and even onto my DJI Ronin S gimbal.

The fact that this cage has not interfered with any of my camera controls, cables, battery or SD card inserts proves that Smallrig have put a lot of thought into crafting this product. The steady but sleek styling doesn’t take away from the EOS R’s aesthetics either. It sort of inspires me to use the camera more often.

As a result of all this, I don’t think I would use any camera again without a Smallrig cage.
