    Well Constructed Clamp Adds Safety

Posted by Doug on 31st Mar 2020

This clamp is a perfect fit for the gripped X-H1 cage. It adds a level of confidence when using the HDMI cable plugged into the camera. This helps avoid damage by accidentally bumping the cable.

The only quibbles I have can't be helped by Small Rig. They have to do with the side door on the X-H1 and the relative looseness of the cable when in the socket. Because of the door, you have to mount the camera with the clamp removed from the cage. You then open the door, then mount the clamp. I'm glad Fuji has made a change so that the door can be removed on their newer cameras.

The relative looseness of the plug in the socket means it takes a little longer to get the clamp lined up on the cage where the jaws are effective when gripping the socket. These are both minor quibbles that don't take away from the usefulness of the clamp.

I am just as impressed by the design and build quality of this clamp as I am with the rest of the SmallRig gear I own. There may be similar products that are a little cheaper, but SmallRig makes professional grade gear well worth the difference in price.
