Ahahaha, when I mount my DSLR on the top, I find it fit very well. The 15mm rod clamps could be mounted with 15mm rods, so that it could be attached with lens support to support the lens. Its height is adjustable via a wingnut. Very creative!
The SmallRig 2092 baseplate is an outstanding piece of craftsmanship.
The height adjustment fits so precise; and when the rod clamps are tightened, the carbon fiber rods are perfectly parallel.
It’s a fantastic idea to make the top clamp 90° turnable.
A little tricky to remove the camera shoe if the cam lock is not properly tweaked. We use these in our aerial operations where every ounce costs us airtime. This thing is a tank! It needs to go on a weight reduction program!
As with all the Small Rig gear we own it does an excellent job.
To be honest, when I see the product in Co-design programme, I think, well, it looks a little bit heavy. Because it is mainly used in run-and-gun, it could be better to be lighter in weight. Thus when it is shooting outside, it would be more convenient for the cameraman. I talk to the designer and they all think that is a brilliant idea and they change the material size to make it lighter.
