Smallrig VCT-14 Quick Release Tripod Plate 2169 is Sony VCT-14 standard which enables you to quick attach and remove your camcorder from a tripod adapter by using the lever release. The all metal construction plate offers a v-wedge adapter which is coincidence with the Standard VCT-14 Shoulder Plate. Additionally, the VCT tripod plate features multiple 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 threads on the bottom for attaching any QR plate to a tripod. It works perfectly with SmallRig Sony VCT-14 Shoulder Plate 1954.

I surely wonder why the Sony version is so expensive. The SmallRig Release plate is of such a high quality for so much lower price than the Sony. SmallRig for me is the definitive winner.
Was unsure about this plate but was impressed with small rigs other products so gave it a go. Showed it to my grip and he was super impressed. Will probably buy a second
It delivers what it should do!
Nothing more and nothing less.
For an affordable price.
Very high quality for little money
I've owned a number of VCT quick release plates, all in the $250-300 range. The SmallRig VCT-14 functions no differently. Solid build, very professional. I recently bought the Wooden Camera VCT-14 for almost $300 and I've had nothing but issues with it sticking and not releasing properly... WC had no interest in helping me with the issue so I bought the SmallRig VCT-14. Couldn't be happier with it and it doesn't have the issues I had with the Wooden Camera version. Plus the customer service is better at SmallRig so if I did have an issue I'm sure they'd at least help me through it at the very least. I'm a fan and I don't shy away from putting SmallRig gear on my Arri Alexa Mini.
The SmallRig VCT-14 plate is solidly built and 100% the real deal when it comes to VCT-14 plates. I've used it mainly with the SmallRig VCT-14 Shoulder baseplate (item 1954), and it fits just as I hoped it would. If you're familiar with the standard Sony VCT-14 plate you'll notice that the SmallRig version looks a little different. The design is much sleeker near the rear, but it works just the same. My guess is that SmallRig realized the Sony design could do without the unnecessary bulk and chose to slim it down. Great choice!
The Sony version is $295 on B&H as of October 22, 2018, and that price is just absolutely ridiculous! Companies that overcharge for their products, (cue throat clear) Wooden Camera, need to slow their roll and stop charging 5x what their product is worth simply because it's the industry standard to do so.
Good on you, SmallRig. Keep it up!
When you consider that the main brand manufactures are charging upwards of $250-$300 for their plates, this is a steal. It handles my smallrig 1954 should mount with a solid click. Definitely a 5 star item.
The SmallRig VCT-14 Quick release Tripod plate is built like a tank and has a perfect fit with the shoulder rig. Has a nice satisfying "click" when attaching the SmallRig shoulder rig. Perfect straight out of the box, haven't needed to adjust anything. Cheaper in price than original Sony VCT-14 version.
I got the VCT shoulder pad a while ago and my old VCT plate didn't quite fit it right. When Small Rigs came out with this one, I picked it up for $100 and have been very pleased. Its really solid and you can't beat the price. I can't attest to how well it fits all VCT plates, but I know it fits the Small Rigs plate like a glove. The solid feel of it gives me the impression it won't be getting worn out any time soon.
