Note: Shoulder Pad 1954 is compatible with Sony VCT-14, NOT compatible with Sony VCT-U14, Not compatible with Zacuto VCT Tripod Plate.
SmallRig Sony VCT-14 Shoulder Plate 1954 is compatible with Sony VCT-14 tripod adapter plates. It could be attached and detached fast, able to support heavy devices and keen to get a balance when the camera is mounted on it. It features a Manfrotto 501 quick release plate, and shooting on the shoulder, in the hands and on the tripods could be switched swiftly.
Part of the baseplate extends out beyond the 15mm LWS rod adapter in the front. With rod adapter set back, additional space in the front is achieved to mount follow focus. It enables you to position the camera back to some degree on the plate, to get the balance of your rig directly over your shoulder. The rod adapter is vertically adjustable by 23mm to fit different types of cameras, like FS7/FS7II/FS5/Ursa Mini/Canon C100. What’s more, it is equipped with a 15mm LWS rod adapter on the rear side.
Manfrotto 501 quick release plate, which is compatible with the Manfrotto 577 quick release adapter could be slid about 80mm forwards or backward when the wingnut is loose. An ARRI M6 rosette is available to attach accessories and grips, and multiple 1/4"-20 threaded holes on the side could provide additional mounting options. Also, the shoulder pad is so soft that your shooting will be more pleasant.

I forgot to give it five stars, in my review
Works well. I adjusted my Eva-1 to sit nicely balanced with my Zacuto gratical HD etc. Misfit swing away fits well, although it has vertical adjustment so the VCT adjustment isn't as crucial.
The padding lets it down. Zacuto gel is MUCH better.
My previous SmallRig shoulder pad broke in and flattened (wore out) in about a month, I hope this VCT padding fares better.
I only use one Arri rosette so I easily removed the face side rosette.
High quality above expectations. Quick and correct delivery. Well packed. I will keep on buying at SmallRig.
This works well for BMPCC4K, it's a good price and I added a cheese plate to back of this to attach a Core v-mount battery offset to the right, and a monitor to the left with 15mm Single Rod Clamp for BMPCC 4K Cage 2279. Add some arms and handle and you are done.
The SmallRig VCT-14 #1954 is the centerpiece of a rig doc work with the Sony A7 family. Completing the setup is a Sony 28-135mm F4 zoom, Sony XLR-1M audio interface, Ikan cage, Watson Gold Plate battery and the Zacuto Gratical Eye EVF. At total weight of 15lbs 11oz (7.1kg), it may not be the lightest but it's the cheapest way I could find to get a full frame sensor on my shoulder. The SmallRig Shoulder plate is an essential part of the rig. The padding is more than adequate, there is a plethora of attachment points (in just the right places) and the Manfrotto-style tripod rack lets me balance it precisely. One really great feature is that the bottom is flat and after it's balanced correctly you can set the camera down on a table or on the floor with no fear of it tipping over. My one complaint is that the plate is a little heavy...there's a lot of aluminum in this baby, more than what's essential for the kind of weight it's supporting. But the build, the fit, and the design - not to mention the perfect mating with the SmallRig VCT-14 Quick Release Tripod Plate #2169 - makes it a five-star.
When I first got my FS7 there wasn't much available at a decent price so I got the Sony one. After 3 and half years I decided to give my shoulder a break and went looking for something better. This this thing is comfortable, not to heavy and easily adjustable for different rig set ups.
Came as part of the URSA Mini Adavanced Accessory Kit and contrary to what some reviews (B&H) for example state, this fits perfectly with an E-Image VCT-14 tripod adapter. The overall quality for the price is great and it's a really universal product that will probably stay with me for some years, one could rig an Alexa Mini (in a cage, for bottom mounting options), any Red, FS5-55 or EVA-1 with it. Simply a good value, universal product!
I use this with my FS5, and its great. I have an old panasonic VCT14 plate and it connects perfectly. Solid connection, no wriggle room, just a rock solid connection.
I'm guessing the people saying "It doesn't fit" are using it with a VCT U14 plate? I don't know. The plate I have was bought 2nd hand is probably around 20 years old, and it fits perfectly with this SmallRig shoulder mount.
Cushion is nice, is a little on the firm side without being overly firm, a nice balance, which I think is perfect.
The Manfrotto 501 plate is also great. allows for the camera to be moved so it sits well balanced, over your shoulder. It also means nice and easy swaps to my other gear that uses this same QR plate.
Definitely would recommend to my friends, and already have.
The rig is generally well thought-out and very comfortable to operate, however, the machining of the v-lock base appears to be very flawed, at least on the model I received. I tried it with the Sony VCT-14 plate and the rig DID NOT FIT, contrary to the advertised compatibility. It's clear to me that this is a problem with factory tolerances, as I can see with my own eyes that the v-lock base is not sitting flush to the tripod plate, causing the rig to stick instead of release. I suppose I get what I pay for, which is why I think 3 stars is appropriate. It's a pretty good product for the price but the flawed v-lock is extremely disappointing to the point that I am considering returning or selling it off.
