SmallRig Vlogging Camera Cage for GoPro HERO8 Black CVG2505 is a lightweight aluminum cage that protects the camera while providing plenty of accessory mounts, without interfering with the camera's button, port and battery access. Slide the camera into the cage (take off the camera’s side battery door first), and simply press the cover to lock it in place. The cage features two cold shoes and several 1/4”-20 holes for accessory mounting, like a microphone, a small LED light, SmallRig Cold Shoe Mount 1593 or cold shoe 1960. The folding fingers on the bottom let you attach the camera on a variety of GoPro mounts and surfaces; while the 1/4”-20 mount at the center makes it possible to attach the camera on a 1/4”-20 tripod. The side panel is a quick release for battery switches, and you can charge the camera through the USB-C port without opening the panel. The front of the cage features a filter ring that accepts filters with a 52mm thread.

1. Please take off the camera’s original battery door before using the cage;

3. If you need a holder for the GoPro mic adapter, please buy SmallRig Kit CVG2678.
4.There might be darkening around the corners if you’re shooting in SuperView with the HyperSmooth stabilization turned off or taking stills in the widest field of vision (16-34mm).

First GO PRO I’ve owned. Decided to protect it from knocks. Dropped the camera on asphalt on 2nd day of ownership-never mind, I had my Smallrig cage on and the camera was untouched- the case took the knocks as designed. I love the battery door with the opening for an external power supply, a great feature. Bought a 52mm UV filter as a permanent piece of protection for the Go Pro lens- looks super cool and screws on easily. This purchase was an investment in my business as my new camera will stay protected for many years.
Very nice cage for Hero8!
Probably the best cage for the Hero 8. The only improvement to make is if it could be made lighter. Also, the price is very reasonable compared to other cages.
I was searching for the cage for two month thinking about Ulanzi GH-5 but after I saw a SmallRig version my search was over. It is a functional high quality product. The design is the best among cages for GoPro 8.
Built like a tank. Incredible attention to detail. Hero 8 fits perfectly.
The cage adds a good amount of bulk to the already larger Hero8, but it's totally welcome when taking into account how much this cage protects your GoPro. The filter attachment is super welcome considering the limited amount of lens filters for the Hero8 after GoPro redesigned the lens with a bevel. The flip-down feet for attaching to GoPro mounts are much more solid than the plastic feet on the GoPro itself and the 1/4-20 screws all over make mounting to anything a breeze. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cage!
I have recently purchased a number of Smallrig Products that will enable me to use my GoPro in a Rig. I am particularly interested in the base plate and how it will interact with your rig. How is the base plate of the cage designed as the photos are a little difficult to underrstand what is happening and I am keen to contribute to its design? I would be happy to send you a picture of my rig
